Whilst offering advice on the choice of frames, we also advise patients on the best spectacle lens for their circumstances taking into account their spectacle prescription and lifestyle. We use top quality prescription houses, supplying a full range of spectacle lenses from manufacturers such as Hoya, Essilor, Shamir and RXL
Lenses are supplied mainly in plastic (including all high index materials) due to its lighter weight and also the safety advantages of the material compared with glass. The lenses can be single vision, bifocals, trifocal or varifocal design and in a range of different materials depending on the thickness of the required lens. The lenses can be clear, tinted, polarised or photochromic (lenses that darken in the sunlight). Special occupational lenses designed for extensive display screen use are also available
Advanced anti-reflection coatings can also be added to lenses. This reduces reflections off the lens surfaces which is of benefit for drivers and VDU users as well as enhancing the cosmetic appearance of the lenses.
